Frequently asked questions about deferred voting
What is deferred voting and what are its advantages?
A delayed vote is a digital process in which the start and end times are programmed in advance. Unlike real-time voting, in this format the participants can cast their vote at any time within the established schedule, without having to coincide all at the same time. If the vote includes several questions, they are all answered in a single session.
This type of voting is mainly used in elections and consultations, where deliberation and debate take place in the days before, during the campaign. Once the voting period is over, the results can be displayed immediately (or even during the process, if so decided by the administrator).
The advantages of this type of voting are as follows:
- Time flexibility: each participant can vote when it is most convenient for him/her within the established time frame, which facilitates participation without depending on a specific time.
 - Convenience and accessibility: by being able to vote from any place and device connected to the Internet, the participation of a greater number of people is guaranteed, without geographical or agenda limitations.
 - Planning and control: by being scheduled in advance, deferred voting allows for better organization of the process and more predictable management for administrators.
 - Immediate and reliable results: once the voting period is closed, the results are generated automatically, reducing errors and speeding up the communication of the final data.
 - Suitability for electoral processes: this format is ideal for elections and consultations where the debate has already taken place and an orderly, secure and high turnout voting process is sought.

What is the difference between deferred and real-time voting modes?
The main difference between deferred voting and real-time voting is the time at which participants cast their vote. In deferred voting, users can vote during a set period without needing to vote simultaneously. Real-time voting requires all participants to vote at the same time, making it ideal for live meetings or assemblies. Both options can be easily managed through the Kuorum platform depending on the organization’s needs.
Who can participate in a deferred vote?
All persons included in the electoral roll defined by the organization can participate in a deferred vote. This census can be easily uploaded in Excel or CSV format, incorporating only the data necessary to identify each voter according to the electronic identification regulations.
In addition, the platform allows to manage the voting permissions If a member has left the organization or does not meet the requirements (e.g. has not paid the fee), he/she can be included in the census without voting permissions and be activated later with a single click when his/her situation is regularized.
In this way, only authorized persons can participate, guaranteeing a secure, transparent process that complies with the internal rules of each organization.
Is it necessary to download an application to participate in the scheduled voting?
No, it is not necessary. Voting in Kuorum is done directly from any web browser, both on computer and mobile or tablet, without additional installations.
What technical requirements must voters meet?
They only need internet access and a web browser. A cell phone is not mandatory, although extra security measures can be activated via SMS or other verification systems if requested by the organization.
Must voters have an email address to participate?
In most cases, yes. Email is used to send invitations and secure credentials. However, Kuorum also offers alternative authentication methods, adaptable to the needs of each organization.
Is it possible to combine online and in-person voting?
Yes, Kuorum allows the integration of both formats in the same deferred voting. This ensures that all votes - in-person and online - are recorded on a single platform in a secure, transparent and duplicate-free manner.
Can I vote from anywhere in the world?
Yes, voters can participate from any country, as long as they have an internet connection and a web browser. It is important, however, to respect the dates and times established for voting, so that your vote is valid. This ensures that all participants comply with the deadlines defined by the organization.
What support does Kuorum offer during deferred voting?
Our technical team accompanies the organization in all phases: configuration, development and closing of the voting. In addition, we offer assistance during the course of the voting in case of incidents.
Is the result of a deferred vote legally valid?
Yes, the results of a deferred vote are fully valid as long as the legal requirements of the country and the internal rules of the convening organization are met. The platform ensures that votes are recorded securely and in compliance with regulations.
Is the live vote secret?
Kuorum allows you to configure the deferred vote to be secret or nominal, according to the needs of the organization, always guaranteeing the confidentiality and integrity of the process.
What happens if a voter represents several persons or entities in a deferred vote?
The platform manages proxy voting in a simple way. The same voter can cast several votes on behalf of different persons or entities, always respecting the rules defined by the organization.
Who owns the planned voting data?
The data belongs exclusively to the convening organization. Kuorum acts solely as a technology provider, ensuring the protection of information and the security of the entire process.
