Transforming the elections of the National Urological Association.
The necessary security guarantees
From the very beginning, Kuorum's objective was to design a process that combined usability and security, for which it was necessary to work closely with the National Association of Urology to understand their needs from the outset and ensure the solution was fully adapted to them. The election using the platform took place over the course of a week, culminating in a Congress, with on-site support for opening ballot boxes using distributed access codes, thus ensuring the traceability and confidentiality of the results.
The Kuorum team worked closely with the Association to verify the membership registry and standardize data in the stages leading up to the election. During the election days, Kuorum also provided voters with a support hotline to address questions and resolve any potential issues.
Voters carried out a two-factor identification, thus ensuring compliance with the maximum guarantees required by the European Electronic Identification Regulation (eIDAS). Voters were also given the possibility to overwrite their vote as many times as they wished until the closing time of voting, with only the last vote being recorded. This measure is an effective anti-coercion mechanism that is applied in the most demanding virtual elections, such as the Estonian presidential election. Finally, each voter received a time-stamped voting certificate, a document that is admissible in court as documentary evidence in the event of a challenge.

Transparency in the presentation of results
The 1,500 active voters cast their votes securely and anonymously, electing the president, vice president, treasurer and director of scientific activities, with the ability to verify that their vote had been correctly recorded thanks to the end-to-end verifiability provided by Kuorum's electronic delayed voting system.
For the first time in the history of the National Urology Association, a woman was elected president, a symbolic fact that marks the transition toward more modern and accessible processes that champion equality. Additionally, the experience reduced the administrative team’s workload and ensured transparency, traceability and confidence at every stage of the process. For the outgoing president, this election represented his last great legacy: to ensure that the association moved toward more professional, reliable and member-centered procedures.
Modernize with confidence
The experience of the National Association of Urology shows that digitalizing elections does not mean sacrificing control or security. With the help of our platform, the association was able to ensure its security and compliance with data protection and electronic identification regulations. Additionally, thanks to end-to-end verifiability, each voter could confirm that their vote had been recorded correctly without sacrificing anonymity. All this, with a system certified by accredited auditing companies such as AENOR.
